Boldenone, also known as Equipoise or simply EQ, is a so-called synthetic anabolic steroid with primarily anabolic activity and limited androgenic effects. Boldenone, or EQ, is known to significantly increase protein synthesis and nitrogen retention (resulting in a strong “pump”) and notably stimulates appetite. Additionally, boldenone stimulates erythropoietin production in the kidneys, which increases red blood cell production and thus oxygenation (with its pros and cons).

Why Boldenone is also called EQ

Boldenone was patented in Switzerland in 1949, and various experimental esters of the drug followed shortly thereafter. Eventually, the most stable one was tested and adopted, and we’re talking about Boldenone Undecylenate, which has a very long and stable ester. This drug was withdrawn from the human pharmaceutical market in the late 1970s, and in the late 1980s, Boldenone Undecylenate was reintroduced as a veterinary drug to promote growth in horses under the name Equipoise or, more simply, EQ. Today, it is still used by veterinarians to strengthen the musculature of horses.

Is EQ legal?

As always when discussing these substances, we find ourselves in a very fine gray area. Equipoise is a legal drug in the United States and Australia only when prescribed and used for veterinary purposes. Because it has such a powerful effect on the human body, EQ is a highly sought-after drug and, whenever possible, is used by bodybuilders and athletes in general who need high levels of oxygen in their blood as well as muscle mass.

Equipoise in Italy

Italian doctors CANNOT prescribe EQ, and pharmacies can only sell it for research purposes for animal use and not for therapeutic purposes. Since Equipoise is a powerful product and is not known to be synthesized for human use, it is important to know how to use it in order to avoid unwanted side effects.
