Brief overview of Testolone (RAD140)

Testolone (RAD140) is one of the most powerful SARMs available. It significantly promotes muscle mass and strength gains, giving a hard, full, and highly vascularized appearance. During use, many athletes report increased muscle stiffness and a constant feeling of "fullness."

Compared to milder SARMs such as Ostarine or Andarine, RAD140 causes a significantly greater suppression of endogenous testosterone. However, it has a highly appreciated characteristic: a protective effect on the prostate, making it useful even in combination with androgenic anabolic steroids.
Experimental studies also indicate a potential positive effect in reducing breast cancer, making testolone a subject of clinical interest.

What is Testolone (RAD140)?

RAD140, also known as testolone, is a selective androgen receptor modulator developed by Radius Pharmaceuticals in the late 2000s. It was originally designed as a potential treatment for muscle loss (sarcopenia) and was later studied in the context of breast cancer.

From a pharmacological point of view, rad140 has excellent anabolic properties, comparable to those of LGD-4033, with greater tissue selectivity. It acts as a partial agonist in prostate tissue, helping to reduce the risk of prostatic hyperplasia even in the presence of testosterone or its derivatives.

An additional benefit is the improvement in lipid profile (LDL, HDL, and triglycerides) without a significant increase in liver enzymes in most users.

Scientific research on RAD140

RAD140 is an experimental SARM developed by Radius Health Inc. for androgen replacement therapy. In 2020, it was licensed to Ellipses Pharmaceuticals.
Preclinical animal studies have shown that testolone can increase lean muscle mass and bone density with a potentially superior safety profile compared to traditional testosterone.

The first clinical trial in humans began in 2017 and concluded in 2020, involving postmenopausal women with breast cancer.

Only one case of liver damage has been reported during a clinical trial, which has not yet been fully clarified.

Lipid profile

Like all SARMs, testolone can also affect blood lipids, with a possible reduction in HDL and increase in LDL. It is recommended to monitor cholesterol during the cycle.

Testosterone suppression

Testosterone suppression with RAD140 tends to occur between the 6th and 7th week, especially at doses ≥10 mg.
At higher doses (20–30 mg), suppression may occur earlier. To reduce this risk, many users do not exceed 10 mg per day.
