Injectable L-carnitine is becoming increasingly popular in Italy and Europe: but how is it used? How much should I take?
Over the past year, both on this website and in our laboratories, we have noticed a dramatic increase in interest and orders from our users and customers for injectable L-carnitine. While this product was previously very popular among competitive athletes in the United States, it is now being used more and more at all levels in Europe and Italy as well. With this article, we’re not here to explain what injectable L-carnitine is used for or why it’s better than the oral version (for that, see the technical data sheet“Injectable L-Carnitine”), but rather to answer the thousands of people who ask us,“How do you use injectable L-carnitine?” by providing you with precise instructions and protocols.

Various applications for injectable L-carnitine.
Before choosing your dosage and protocol, you should consider why you want to use injectable L-carnitine. There are various applications, as L-carnitine can be used to enhance fat burning, improve performance, regenerate androgen receptors, and can be used in an “agonistic” manner or simply as a general supplement.
Injectable L-carnitine for fat burning
If you are a competitive athlete in the cutting phase, it is recommended that you perform a loading phase with injectable L-carnitine for the first 10 days, taking 30–40 mg of the product per kilogram of body weight per day. An athlete weighing 80 kg should therefore take 2,400–3,200 mg of L-carnitine daily (divided into several injections) for the first 10 days. After the first 10 days, the athlete can reduce the dose to 20–25 mg per kilogram.
PLEASE NOTE:
- This protocol is only for competitive athletes or experienced and determined sportspeople.
- There is no cycle length: injectable L-carnitine can be used as much and as often as desired.
- This protocol also covers the requirements for future protocols. It not only burns fat but also facilitates energy and regenerates receptors.
If you are not a competitive athlete or only want to make marginal use of the fat-burning benefits of injectable L-carnitine, we recommend following the same protocol but at 20mg per kg during the loading phase and 10-15mg per kg during the maintenance phase.
At this stage, it is important to inject L-carnitine before workouts and cardiovascular exercise, after you have eaten something (since L-carnitine needs insulin to enter the bloodstream). Use it during the loading phase even on rest days. Avoid using injectable L-carnitine before going to bed, as it may interfere with sleep.
L-Carnitine Injectable is NOT intended to compensate for poor diet. Do not use it if you think you can eat whatever you want without any problems.
Injectable L-carnitine to improve performance
L-Carnitine is generally known for optimizing metabolism and boosting both physical and mental performance (especially our version available for sale: Acetyl L-Carnitine Injectable). For this purpose, we recommend taking the product at a dose of at least 600 mg before your workout. If you train more than once a day or engage in cardiovascular activities, the same rule applies: 600 mg before each session. On rest days, intake is not necessary. In this case as well, you will see an optimization of fat utilization as an energy source, though not to the same extent as in the previous protocol.
Injectable L-carnitine to sensitize receptors
Whether you’re between cycles, about to start a cycle, or have been on a cycle for some time, L-carnitine can help restore receptor sensitivity so you can make the most of the hormones you’re taking. In this case, a consistent daily dose of 200–300 mg is sufficient, regardless of whether you’re working out or not. We recommend continuing to take L-carnitine even during your cycle to optimize receptor response and delay receptor saturation. If you are already following one of the previous protocols, you already have enough L-carnitine in your body to re-sensitize the receptors, so this additional intake is not necessary.
Various things to know:
- Oral and injectable L-carnitine are the same active ingredient, but oral absorption is 10 times lower.
- To optimize the use of injectable (and non-injectable) L-carnitine, you need a minimum amount of insulin in your blood, so always eat something before injecting the product or, in any case, do not use it too far between meals.
- L-Carnitine injections BURN! Like vitamin B12, the injection burns a little, but it's a very temporary burning sensation.
- Be sure to inject L-carnitine into the muscle and not subcutaneously, or it could be very irritating (due to the aforementioned burning sensation).
- Apart from the loading phase, there is no specific cycle duration for L-carnitine. You can use it every day for months on end.
- Do not take high doses of L-carnitine late at night, as its stimulating and energizing effects may interfere with your sleep.
